Several visitors have recently recommended the TAC or Theme Authenticity Checker. It’s a great plugin that checks the authenticity of that individual theme for WordPress. But why on earth would we need to use such a tool.
Now you’ll realise by now that there are not hundreds but literally thousands of WordPress themes on the Internet that we can get for our WordPress sites. Want something that looks attractive, is functional, creative and best of all Free.
But beware sometimes themes contain unwelcome and detrimental script, links and code. Worse still of course its placed there without your knowledge – you can detect such material with the great TAC plugin!
But how does it operate? Well its scans the source files of every single theme that is installed for signs of malevolent code and when its found it will show you exactly while file contains the code and the path to that file!
So what should you do if you do find it? Don’t assume at all that it has been placed there by the original theme author – after all almost all themes are downloaded from operators who could very well have changed the code in some what. Maybe contact the original theme author and make them aware.
But the best procedure to follow really and one, which we heartily recommend, is to take a look at our WordPress Themes category, this includes free WordPress themes, premium themes and theme clubs. That way you’re always safe – and maybe one is just right for you, so do give yourself plenty of investigation time!
